Middle Cove, Sydney

Middle Cove is a suburb on Sydney’s Lower North Shore, bordered by Castle Cove, Willoughby East, Willoughby North and Castlecrag. It is a relatively new suburb for the Lower North Shore, having been created in 1957 when the founder of Lend Lease and MLC, Dick Dusseldorp, bought the land and subdivided it. It currently has a population of 1,271 with a majority of these families according to the census of 2011.

Middle Cove has a small shopping area on its western fringe, but its proximity to Chatswood and Willoughby means that most of its residents do their shopping and eating out in those neighbourhoods.

Middle Cove has one school, the Glenaeon Rudolf Steiner School, originally established by the architect Walter Burley Griffin and his wife Marion Mahony Griffin.

Middle Cove is dominated at its tip by Harold Reid Reserve, an area of bushland reserve. It is home to many native species such as goannas, sugar gliders, and swamp wallabies. Middle Cove is part of the City of Willoughby and its postcode is 2068.
