Artarmon is a suburb on the Northern Line, between St Leonards and Chatswood. Artarmon is located around 9 kilometres outside of Sydney CBD on the Northern side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge it’s postcode is 2064 and it is part of the Willoughby Council area.

Artarmon was named after the Artarmon Estate in Ireland, the home of William Gore, the Provost-Marshal under Gov. Bligh.

Artarmon is divided into residential and industrial areas by its major roads and train line, with the industrial section south of the Gore Hill Freeway. The Australian television stations SBS, Ten, and Seven broadcast from Artarmon, as does SBS Radio.

The residential area of Artarmon is leafy and quiet, and is home to a Japanese and Korean community, as well as mainland Chinese. Artarmon, therefore, is home also to one of Sydney’s Buddhist communities.

Artarmon has several buildings on the National Estate Register, including the Chatswood South Uniting Church, built in 1871.
