Including the likes of the musician Josh Pyke, the television presenter and journalist George Negus and the author/journalist Geraldine Brooks.

Balmain’s main thoroughfare, Darling Street, boasts quality bars, restaurants, cafes and boutique shops and on Saturdays the suburb hosts the well-known Balmain Markets, where a variety of home-made foods and wares can be purchased.

The original inhabitants of Balmain and much of the Inner West are the Cadigal and Wangal peoples.
