Bardwell Valley, Sydney

Bardwell Valley is a relatively new suburb in the northern St George area of Sydney, between Bardwell Park, Turrella and Arncliffe. It was established in 1996 from the northern parts of Arncliffe. The Bardwell Valley backs onto the Bardwell Creek and Wolli Creek, which together form the Wolli Creek valley, the only unspoiled bush remnant in southern Sydney.

The suburb of Bardwell Valley is likewise very green and lush, with many parks and a golf course. The City of Rockdale has planted an olive grove in Bardwell Valley, in recognition of the many residents in the area who originally come from Greece, Turkey and Macedonia.

Bardwell Creek was named after Thomas Hill Bardwell, who owned land in the area in the 1850s. He was a wealthy pastoralist from South Australia. Bardwell Valley was the last remaining strip of bushland in the area after the 1940s.
