Double Bay is one of the most prestigious addresses in Sydney, and home to the city’s most fashionable and expensive shopping strip, on New South Head Rd. It is bordered by Point Piper, Darling Point, Woollahra, and Edgecliff and has a population of around 4,687 according to the census of 2011. The postcode of Double Bay is 2028.

Double Bay was originally called Keltie Cove, after the master of the First Fleet ship HMS Sirius. It was renamed Double Bay because it refers to the geographical formation between Darling Point and Point Piper. Double bay has a slight peak in the middle giving the illusion of two bays between these points hence Double Bay.

The Rushcutters Bay to Rose Bay Coastal Walk passes through Double Bay, showcasing the ruins of the historical houses ‘Canonbury’ and ‘Lansdowne’, and a cottage dating from the 1840s. Double Bay also contains many other restored historical houses. Double Bay is also the administrative centre of Woollahra Municipal Council, with its buildings next to Double Bay Library on New South Head Rd.
