McMahons Point, Sydney

McMahons Point has some of the best views in Sydney. It is situated just to the west of the Harbour Bridge, across from Millers Point. The tip of it, Blues Point, is named after Billy Blue, a Jamaican convict transported in the First Fleet, who was later the water-bailiff on Sydney Harbour and was granted land there.

McMahons Point is a high-density affluent suburb with around 2,350 people living in an area of only 0.3 kilometres squared. McMahons Point offers quick access to the best that the Lower North Shore has to offer, as well as being very well connected to public transport. McMahons Point has a very comprehensive restaurant and cafe strip along Blues Point Road, popular for lunch and after work drinks with people who work nearby in North Sydney.

It is perhaps most famous for the Blues Point Tower, built by Harry Seidler in the 1960s and derided by all except the people who live in it.
