Northwood, Sydney

Northwood is sandwiched between the better-known suburbs of Longueville and Greenwich on the Lane Cove River. Like Longueville, Northwood is an affluent suburb, ranked in the Sydney Morning Heralds top twenty most affluent Sydney suburbs in 2005.

It is a low-density residential area and in 2011 had a population of only 907, an increase of only 2 since the census of 2006.

Northwood has access to public transport via Sydney Ferries and buses to St Leonards interchange.

Northwood was named after Northwood House, which was commissioned as a family home by Mrs Jane Davey in 1878. Mrs Davey also had a private ferry service, allowing family and friends to access the house. Today, Northwood House is restored and open to the public.
