Pagewood was founded after World War One as a garden suburb similar to Daceyville, it was named after the Botany Council Alderman F.J. Page. Pagewood is bordered by Botany, Eastgardens, Eastlakes and Maroubra. Pagewood’s postcode is 2035, and it is located within the City of Botany Bay council area.

For nearly thirty years from the 1930s to the late 1950s, Pagewood was the home of National Studios. National Studios was one of Australia's iconic film studios that in retrospect never made one commercially successful Australian film. National Studios didn't just produce Australian films however but also some British and even some Hollywood films. National Studios was bought out in the fifties byGeneral Motors Holden, who made the site into a plant which provided employment in Pagewood up until 1981. In 1987 Westfields Eastgarden opened to the public on the site of the old National Studio and is the main shopping precinct for Pagewood residents.

Pagewood is primarily a residential suburb these days, popular with retirees and home to a large Greek community. In 2011 according to the Australian Census, Pagewood had a population of 3,643 with people over the age of 65 making up 18.5% of the population.

Pagewood has several parks and is close to two golf courses: Eastlakes and Bonnie Doon. Bonnie Doon is know for not only its rolling greens but also its iconic club house which looks out across the green and is located on Banks Avenue.
