White Bay, Sydney

White Bay is an industrial and residential Bay located on Sydney Harbour around Balmain and Rozelle. Since the nineteenth century the area has been used as a port for transport and industrial purposes.

White Bay has a few key landmarks in the area. The most notable are the derelict White Bay Power Station which looks out over the Anzac Bridge. The Anzac Bridge was completed in 1996 and is the main link between the inner west and Sydney city. One landmark that was of significance in the region until 2008 was The White Bay Hotel. This historic hotel was first built in 1861 and had been refurbished many times until it finally closed in 1992. For the following years it was a giant billboard but in 2008 there was a suspicious fire and the hotel was demolished.
