Willoughby, Sydney

Willoughby is a quiet and leafy suburb in Sydney’s North Shore district with a population of approximately 5,920 according to the 2011 census. It is bordered by Naremburn, Northbridge, Castlecrag, Chatswood and St Leonards.

Willoughby is serviced by Sydney buses only. There are routes to Chatswood and Wynyard, and although it doesn't have its own train station there is easy access to Artarmon Station.

Willoughby was originally inhabited by the Cammeraygal people of the Ku-ring-gai nation.

Willoughby unlike some of the older suburbs in this region only has a few Vitorian and Federation style houses and buildings. The majority of the architecture in the area dates from around the 1920s onwards.

Willoughby is the location of Channel Nine’s News and Finance Centre. Channel Nine’s Willoughby broadcasting tower is the tallest such in Australia, at 233 metres.
